Lashon Daley received her PhD in Performance Studies with a Designated Emphasis in New Media from UC Berkeley. She also holds an MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College and an MA in Folklore from UC Berkeley. In addition to being a Callaloo Poetry Fellow, Lashon publishes work in many different genres. Her children’s picture book, Mr. Okra Sells Fresh Fruits and Vegetables was published by Pelican Publishing Company in 2016. Her work has appeared in O, The Oprah Magazine and Storytelling Magazine. Her most recent personal essay, “When Diane Tells Me a Story,” is forthcoming with Meridians: Feminism, Race, Transnationalism in 2023. Other creative writing projects include Weathering Andrew, Miami Rain, and The Carter Sisters. As a scholar, writer and performer, Lashon thrives on bridging communities together through movement and storytelling.
